East Brainerd Community Theater

The East Brainerd Community Theater will present Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town”, a play in three acts, at Christ United Methodist Church at 8645 East Brainerd Road. 

Nursery Workers Needed

CUMC has openings for paid nursery worker positions. We are looking for adults with availability on Sundays, Wednesday nights and various weekdays and weeknights. 

Zumbathon for Cystic Fibrosis

The 1st annual Zumbathon For A Cure to benefit Cystic Fibrosis will be held on Saturday, May 2nd in the Christ Church multipurpose room.  

Widow's Harvest Project

Have you ever lived with the prospect of falling through the floor of your kitchen if you didn’t step in the right spot? Have the counter tops on your cabinets moved downward so much that you couldn’t set anything on them without it sliding to the sink?

MS Service Week

Middle School Service Week - Camp Lookout - June 1-5. This is an exciting week for our Middle School Youth. 

High School Youth Summer Mission Trip

This year the high school mission trip will be to Charleston, SC!  In Charleston we will be joining up with other mission minded students through Group Missions to serve the community by building relationships and assisting orphans, widows, and to do community service for those in need in Charleston.

Care & Share Ministry

ImageThe Care & Share Ministry provides meals for families in our church that are going through a crisis and are not involved in a Sunday School class or small group.   

Young Adults Group

Christ United Methodist Church is very blessed to have an active and energetic College and Young Adults Ministry. This ministry is geared towards 18-35 year olds.

Ladies Supper Club

The Ladies Supper Club will be meeting Tuesday, May 5th at 6:00 p.m. at P.F. Changs at Hamilton Place.

Room In The Inn Volunteers

Room In The Inn is a local shelter for women and their children who are in need of short-term food and lodging.  Christ Church provides the evening meal 2 times a month. 

Calling Hospitality Servants

Openings are available in the donut cutting and coffee ministries.  Donut ministry involves cutting and setting out donuts for two services; requires 1-2 hours about once per quarter.  

Baked Blessings

Baked Blessings, a ministry of Christ Church, is an opportunity for individuals or families to bake cookies or brownies for people who are homeless.

iStudy - Churchwide Study

iStudy: Basic Bible Study for Christians  by Rev. Mark Flynn is a daily devotional using key passages from the Bible. You will decide how much time you can devote to this study.

ChristKidzLive Presents

ChristKidzLive will present some of our favorite Bible stories in song and drama, including Noah, Joshua, King Nebuchadnezzar, and Daniel in the lion's den on Wednesday April 29 at 6:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Please come and support as well as enjoy their efforts!

New Office Manager

We are pleased to announce that we have filled the vacancy of Office Manager. Lindsey Gallaher has been hired to fill the position.  

Book Review Group

East Ridge Elementary

East Ridge Elementary is in need of volunteers to help in their Kindergarten classes. The school’s eight Kindergarten classes need volunteers to aid teachers between 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Monday-Friday. 

Mustard Tree Ministry

Mustard Tree Ministries reaches out to those in need, often homeless, by meeting basic and spiritual needs and offering love and support. 

Christ Church Community Garden 2015

Spring is here and Christ Church’s Community Garden is getting started! Did you know that Christ Church donate 100% of the produce grown in our garden to persons in need?

Christ Church could not function without the large cadre of leaders that we have serving in a variety of areas.  Each year at our Charge Conference we elect Church Council members.

Partnership Meals

In 2012, two teams began providing a monthly meal to the residents of Partnership’s Family Violence Crisis Center.  The Center accepts families in crisis at any time help is needed. 

Tai Chi for Arthritis

Kim Davis, a certified teacher for TCA, will lead this class on Thursday evenings beginning September 11, 6:00-7:00, in the Trinity-Woodmore Chapel.

Be Inviting

Inviting others to worship and other activities at Christ Church is easy, but it is also a very, very important thing for all of us to do.  

Let’s Sing from Memory

Is a ministry for those in our community with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. 

Building Fund Update

Giving to the Building Fund is exceeding our pledges!  If you continue to give at this level, we can totally pay off our building debt in just over ten years at projected interest rates.  This is our plan, so please continue to give as you are now giving.  If you have not yet started giving to the Building Fund, please do so.  To see a graph of giving to date vs. pledged amounts by month, click here.

Follow the Orphanage's Progress

We have created a blog to help keep everyone up to date on the progress of Grace Home, the orphanage being built in the South Sudan.

Christ's Chauffers

There are members of our congregation who have difficulty finding transportation to various medical appointments.  If you would be willing to be a part of our “Christ’s Chauffeurs” ministry, please contact Debbie Hafling at 718-0377.
