Support our Sisters – A New Cancer Ministry for Women

February is National Cancer Prevention Month.  The American Cancer Society reports that in 2014, approximately 40% of US adults over 30 were impacted by cancers linked to modifiable personal risk factors.  These modifiable risk factors include cigarette smoking, second hand smoke exposure, excess body weight, and alcohol intake.

In addition, the Centers for Disease Control recommends the following to lessen your chances of developing cancer: protecting skin from sun exposure, getting tested for Hepatitis C, increasing physical activity, getting enough sleep, and making good food choices.

What personal cancer risks can each of us modify in 2018?  www.cdc.gov/cancer/ can assist.

Did you know that Christ Church has a new women’s ministry devoted to supporting women who have or had cancer? Please join us or refer any women in your life who might benefit from the Support Our Sisters group.

The next SOS meeting is Wednesday, February 7th, at 7:07 PM in Room A-12.  This meeting will be fun and informative, as well supportive, as we welcome educators from the Mary Ellen Locher Center. All Survivor Sisters welcome!   For additional information, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
