ABOUT US

Welcome to Christ Church, a vibrant and welcoming community dedicated to helping all find a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Located in Chattanooga, TN, our church is a place where dynamic worship meets hearts that love to serve others. Our uplifting services feature multiple worship styles from traditional to contemporary, and engaging messages that are both relevant and inspiring. We offer a variety of programs tailored for children and adults alike, ensuring that every family member can find a place to belong, grow, and serve.

Our mission statement is: “Learning to live the way of Jesus Christ and inviting all to follow Him.” We don’t have it all figured out; we’re still learning to live like Jesus did. We invite you to learn along with us! Whether you're looking for spiritual growth, meaningful friendships, or a supportive environment for your family, Christ Church is here to guide you on your journey. Christ Church has the ministries, facilities, and resources of a large church; but we work hard to feel like a small one. Come give us a try and experience the warmth and welcome of a big small church.

WHO WE ARE

BELIEFS

As a United Methodist Church, we believe the Bible is God’s inspired Scripture, we believe in God our Creator as existing in three parts or persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – known as the Trinity. We believe that we depend entirely upon God for our salvation, which is given to us freely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. In one of our distinctions from some Christian denominations, we believe that God has given us free will by which we can choose to accept or reject God’s gift of salvation through Christ, which is available to all persons. We emphasize grace, which is God’s love given to us freely without our having to earn or deserve it.

OUR VISION

We reach out to invite, welcome, include, and engage all who seek to know Jesus Christ. We see ourselves as a community of people on a spiritual journey, learning, growing, and becoming more mature in our faith. All persons who are part of Christ Church will share their faith and use their God-given gifts in service to others. We will be as diverse as the communities in which we serve, and we know that whatever we accomplish is indeed the work of God.

OUR VALUES

We focus on those who are not yet in any church. Our worship is central to all we do as a church, and our worship is engaging, relevant to real life, and centered upon God. Beliefs and faith are often developed at a young age, so we prioritize children and youth ministries. Life is best lived in connection with others for study and fellowship, so we have lots of small groups and classes for all ages. Although we have the facilities and ministries of a large church, we try hard to feel like a small one. Finally, we take our ministries very seriously, but not ourselves; so we like to laugh and have fun as a church.

OUR HISTORY

SMALL BEGINNINGS

  1. Formed as a merger of two small United Methodist churches in 1984.

Moved to our campus of 32 acres in 1987, worshiping in the multipurpose room (gym).

  2. In the early 1990’s, added a contemporary service as our second worship service.

  3. As growth continued, we completed our sanctuary in 1999 and our Commons space in 2011.

  4. Totally retired all our church debt in 2022, freeing us to do more in mission and ministry.

  5. God has blessed us, as we have grown from a church of 394 members to one of over 5,000!
