Project 541

Project 541 is an organization which is committed to supporting and empowering women and girls of La Moskitia, Honduras. Their goal is to give women and girls the skills needed to create a sustainable future for their family and their community. This is located on the east coast of Honduras in a very impoverished portion of the country with few services.

In this area girls are not expected to be educated beyond the sixth grade and serve only as house servants and to raise families. Currently they rent a three bedroom home with 8 residents living in it ranging in age from 18 months to 17 years. The children under Project 541’s care are not in a temporary group home, but they are an organization that will give them a permanent place to grow up and a family to be a part of.
