Devotion:

Read  Matthew 25:35-40

In this passage, Jesus helps us imagine the final judgment. He separates people and commends those who fed the hungry, gave drinks to the thirsty, welcomed the strangers, clothed the naked, and visited the sick and imprisoned.

The most striking part of the story is the reaction of those who were generous and helped people. They asked Jesus when he saw them feeding the hungry and helping in various ways. They didn’t keep a count of the good deeds. Their kindness was a joy, flowing from a heart changed by God's love.

Jesus makes a stunning identity claim in verse 40: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Jesus sees how the broken, the lonely and the overlooked are treated by others.  Do you take the time to share your resources? When we pause to help a neighbor in distress, share a meal, or offer comfort, our quiet acts of mercy not only show the human empathy but show our commitment to please God.

Personal Worship Option:

Lord, give us eyes to see You in the people we meet today. Help us to love without expecting a reward and let our hands be quick to serve those in need. Amen.
