Devotion:

Read  1 John 3:13-16

There is a kind of love the world understands that is convenient, comfortable, and often conditional. But the love described in this passage is different. It is sacrificial. It costs something. It is the kind of love that lays itself down for others. Every time we take Holy Communion, we are brought back to that truth. The bread reminds us of His broken body. The cup reminds us of His blood poured out. Communion is a visible, tangible reminder of God’s invisible grace. Communion is love made visible.

As we come to the Lord’s Table, we are reminded that we have passed from death to life and His love fills us. When we worship God through Holy Communion, we receive His love not so we can hoard it but so we can give it away.  We need to ask ourselves, Where is God calling me to love more deeply? Who needs to experience Christ’s love through me?

Personal Worship Option:

Lord Jesus, thank You for laying down Your life for us. As we receive the bread and the cup, fill us with Your love. Teach us to love not just in words, but in action and truth. Help us to live sacrificially, just as You did. In Jesus Name. Amen.
